JOHN ASLETT (abt 1614 - 1671) of Andover

Parents: Unknown

John was born about 1614. He deposed that he was 50 in 1664. [Ref] He died on 6 Jun 1671 in Andover. [Ref][Ref][Refdoes not give the year] John Aslett married Rebecca Ayer on 8 Oct 1648 in Newbury. [Ref][Ref says "probably"][Ref]

John was of Rowley in 1643. [Ref] He went to Andover in 1646. [Ref] He was a servant to William Bellingham in 1650. [Ref] In 1663 he was constable in Andover. [Ref3;118]

Robert Lewis sued John Aslett of Rowley for a debt at the 29 (1) 1642 court in Salem. [Ref] The 27 Apr 1665 court at Ipswich delayed John Cale and William Niff of Newbury's presentment for taking John's horse. [Ref]

John signed his will on 15 May 1671. He left bequests to his wife Rebecca, his son John and he left each of his daughters £20. [Ref] His will was proved on 20 Sep 1690. [Ref]

  2. Rebecca Aslett was born on 6 May 1652 in Andover. She died between 26 Mar 1705 and 17 Jun 1728. She married Timothy Johnson.
  3. Mary Aslett was born on 24 Apr 1654 in Andover. [Ref 2;121][Ref] She died on 12 Aug 1747 in Andover. [Ref][Ref] She married Ens. Samuel Frye on 20 Nov 1671 in Andover. [Ref][Ref] He was probably born about 1649. [Ref] He died on 9 May 1725 in Andover. [Ref]

[Ref] He mentioned, among others, his wife Mary; his sisters Mary Frye and Sarah Cole; John Johnson, Sr., the son of his deceased sister Rebecca; Timothy Johnson, Sr., the son of his deceased sister Rebecca; Samuel Johnson "who now lives in Pennsylvania, the son of his deceased sister Rebecca; Rebecca, Mary and Mercy, daughters of Rebecca; his deceased sister Hannah Brown.   5. Sarah Aslett was born on 14 Jan 1658 in Andover. [Ref 2;121] She died on 1 Jan 1740/1 in Bradford. [Ref] She married John Cole, as his second wife and possibly as her second husband, about 1686. [Ref] John was the son of Thomas and Ann Cole. [Ref] He died on 8 Oct 1703 in Lynn. [Ref]
  6. Ruth Aslett was born on 8 Aug 1660. [Ref][Ref]There is no further record of her. [Ref]
  7. Samuel Aslett was probably the "Sara" whose birth was recorded as 14 Aug 1662 in Andover. [Ref] He died there on 20 Dec 1669. [Ref][Ref]
  8. Elizabeth Aslett was born on 26 May 1666 in Andover. [Ref][Ref says "probably"] She was living on 16 Feb 1686/7. [Ref]
