[Ref] The births of the first three children and the burial of the first were recorded in Bristol as the sons of John and Abigail, born in Bridgewater. The births of John, Nathaniel, Eleazer, James and Benjamin were recorded in Bristol as born in Bridgewater. The names of their parents are not given. The births of Elizabeth, Abigail, Josiah and Timothy were recorded in Bristol. The names of their parents are not given. [A]

  5. Capt. Eleazer Cary was born on 27 Sep 1678 in Bridgewater. He died on July 28, 1754, age 76, in Windham [B1] and is buried in the Windham Cemetery [W]. Click here to see a photo. He married Lydia Throope about 1703. S, p. 68] Lydia was the daughter of William and Mary (Chapman) Throope. [S, p. 68] She was born on 15 Jul 1686 in Bristol. [S, p. 68]
    Eleazer purchased 86 acres of land at the end of Cedar Swamp in Windham on 16 Jan 1717/8. S, p. 69] He moved to Windham about 1718. S, p. 69] He was confirmed as captain of the 2nd company of the trainband in Windham in 1722. [S, p. 69] He was a frequent deputy for Windham. [S, p. 69] He was chosen deacon of the First Church in 1729. [S, p. 69]
    Eleazer Cary of Windham signed his will on 6 Mar 1752. He mentioned his wife Lydia; his sons Eleazer and William; his daughters Abigail Albee [?], Lydia Ripley, Ann Denison, Elizabeth Wright and Mary Brigham. His estate was probated on 12 Apr 1756. [CP, vol. 5-6, 1755-1764]

  6. James Cary was born on 10 Jun 1680 in Bridgewater. He married Bridget Pococke on 5 Dec 1705 in the Second Congregational Church in Newport. [S, p. 70] Bridget was the daughter of John Pococke, Attorney General of Rhode Island. [S, p. 70]
    James went to Bristol with his family and later to Newport. [S, p. 70]
  7. Dea. Benjamin Cary was born on 29 Oct 1681 in Bridgewater. He died on 20 Jan 1734/5 in Bristol. [A] He married Susanna Kent. S, p. 70] Susanna was the daughter of Ens. Joseph and Susanna (George) Kent of Swansea. [S, p. 70] She was born on 25 Sep 1687 and died on 10 Aug 1764. [S, p. 70]
    Benjamin succeeded his father as deacon. [S, p. 70] He was the town clerk of Bristol. [S, p. 70]
    Benjamin left an estate valued at £8,800. [S, p. 70]
  8. Elizabeth Cary was born on 23 May 1683 in Bristol. She married Ephraim Kidder. S, p. 64]
  9. Abigail Cary was born on 31 Aug 1684 in Bristol. [L, p. 42][B2, 6;102] She was baptised on 17 Jul 1687 in the First Church of Christ in Bristol. [L, p. 42] She died on 6 Aug 1737 [B2, 6;102], age 53, in Bristol. [L, p. 42] She married Samuel Howland on 6 May 1708 in Bristol. [L, p. 42][B2, 6;102]
