  1. Sgt. John Colby was born on 19 Nov 1656 in Salisbury. [CFEA, p. 7] He died on 6 Apr 1719 in Amesbury. [CFEA, p. 15] He married first Sarah Eldridge on 27 Dec 1675 in Amesbury. [CFEA, p. 15] She died on 3 Jul 1692 in Amesbury. [CFEA, p. 15] He married second Sarah Osgood before 1700. [CFEA, p. 15] Sarah, the daughter of William and Eleanor Osgood, was born on 7 Feb 1652/3 in Salibury. [CFEA, p. 15] He married third Ruth, the widow of Robert Ring, Jr., on 8 Feb 1714/5. [CFEA, p. 15] She died before May 1748 when her estate was administered. [CFEA, p. 15]
    John took the oath of fidelity in 1677. [CFEA, p. 15] He was a soldier in the Falls Fight under Capt. Turner on 18 May 1676. [CFEA, p. 15]
    Ruth was a founder of the Second Church of Amesbury in 1726. [CFEA, p. 15]
  2. Sarah Colby was born on 17 Jul 1658 in Salisbury. [CFEA, p. 7] She died on 14 Mar 1711 in Amesbury. [CFEA, p. 15][MVRA] She married Ebenezer Blaisdell about 1680. [MVRA]
  3. Elizabeth Colby was born in Salisbury. [CFEA, p. 8] She married Ephraim Weed about 1690. [CFEA, p. 17] Ephraim, the son of Lieut. John and Deborah (Winsley) Weed, was born on 24 Feb 1666 in Salisbury. [CFEA, p. 17]
    A 9 Apr 1686 warrent called for Elizabeth Colby to answer for fornication with Philip Caul of Ipswich. [RFQC, 9;600] It was said that she had left the colony. This may be this Elizabeth or her cousin Elizabeth Colby.
    Ephraim was a "snowshoe" man in 1708. [CFEA, p. 17]
    1. Elisha Weed was born on 15 Sep 1689. [CFEA, p. 17] He was living in 1728. [CFEA, p. 17] He married Sarah Bagley after 11 Apr 1713 (int.) in Amesbury. [CFEA, p. 21]
  4. Frances Colby was born on 10 Dec 1662 in Salisbury. [CFEA, p. 8] She died after 11 Nov 1731, when she was mentioned in her husband's will. [CFEA, p. 18] She married Joseph Prichard. [CFEA, p. 18] Joseph, the son of Sgt. William Prichard, was born on 1 Mar 1658 in Ipswich. [CFEA, p. 18] He died between 11 Nov 1731, when he signed his will, and 10 Apr 1732, when it was proved. [CFEA, p. 18]
    Frances was admitted to the First Church in Salisbury on 30 Apr 1699. [CFEA, p. 18] She was dismissed to the First Church in Amesbury on 5 May 1700. [CFEA, p. 18]
  5. Anthony Colby (twin) was born on 10 May 1665 in Salisbury. [CFEA, p. 8] He probably died before 1674, when he was not mentioned in his father's will. [CFEA, p. 8]
  6. Susannah Colby (twin) was born on 10 May 1665 in Salisbury. [CFEA, p. 8] She probably died before 1674, when she was not mentioned in her father's will. [CFEA, p. 8]
  7. Dea. Thomas Colby was born about 1667 in Salisbury. [CFEA, p. 8] He died on 25 Dec 1738 in Amesbury. [CFEA, p. 18] He married Mary Rowell on 21 Nov 1688 in Amesbury. [CFEA, p. 18]
    Thomas was a yeoman. [CFEA, p. 18] He took the freeman's oath in Dec 1690. [CFEA, p. 18] He was a "snowshoe" man in 1708. [CFEA, p. 18] He was a founder of the Second Church in Amesbury in 1726. [CFEA, p. 18] Thomas and Mary made a joint will on 15 Nov 1737; it was proved on 21 Feb 1742. [CFEA, p. 18]
  8. Mary Colby married Thomas Challis before 3 Sep 1696. [CFEA, p. 19]
  9. Hannah Colby was born about 1674 in Salisbury. [CFEA, p. 8] She married William Osgood on 8 Jun 1693 in Amesbury. [CFEA, p. 19] William, the son of John and Mary (Stevens) Osgood, was born on 30 Jul 1673 in Salisbury. [CFEA, p. 20] He died between 25 Jun 1746, when he signed his will, and 13 Jan 1752, when it was proved. [CFEA, p. 20]
