Joseph Franklin CummingsFranklin was a 2nd Lieutenant in the Infantry, discharged on 12 Dec 1918. [CBIC] In June 1919 Franklin was a student, apparently at the University of California, Berkeley, but permanently residing in Washington, DC. He applied for a passport so that he could work for his uncle Charles Ernest Cummings in Mexico City. [PA] In 1930 Franklin was a teacher at a public high school in Alameda, Alameda, California. Franklin was 5'9" with brown hair and hazel eyes. [PA]

Franklin of Brownsville arrived in New York on the Ancon from Cristobal, Canal Zone, Panama on 13 Jul 1913 and on 9 Apr 1914. [NYPL] Franklin of Alameda arrived in New York on the Santa Elisa from San Francisco on 7 Jul 1933. [NYPL] He arrived in New York on the Gripsholm from Gothenburg, Sweden on 27 Aug 1934. [NYPL]
