  1. Joseph Harding married first Jane Adams [ESC, p. 584] on 23 Jul 1713. [HCM, p. 188] Jane was the daughter of John and Avis Adams [HDNH, 2;2] of Boston and the sister of Rev. Hugh Adams [HCM, p. 188]. [ESC, p. 584, does not give her mother's name] She was born on 21 Feb 1686. [HDNH, 2;2] Joseph married second the widow Mary Stewart [ESC, p. 584] before 24 Aug 1720.
    Mary, the widow of Michael Stewart of Chatham and wife of Joseph Harding, was granted 40 shillings and seven pence in the settlement of her previous husband's estate on 24 Aug 1720. [BPR, 4;43]

  2. Amaziah "Maziah" Harding (supposed son) was born about 1692. He died on 31 Mar 1760, age 68, and is buried in the Old Burying Ground in Chatham. [OBGC, 8;238] He married Bethiah Hawes. [ESC, p. 584] Bethiah was the daughter of Isaac Hawes and Bethiah Howes. [ESC, p. 603] She married second as his third wife Thomas Nickerson of Chatham on 26 Dec 1763. [ESC, p. 590][VRCM, 15;135, int. 3 Dec 1763, in Chatham] Thomas was the son of Thomas and Mary (Bangs) Nickerson. [ESC, p. 590] He married first Lydia Covell on 16 May 1716. [ESC, p. 590] Lydia, the widow of Joseph Covell, died on 18 Oct 1750. [ESC, p. 586] Thomas married second Sarah, the widow of John Crowell, after 5 Jul 1751 (int.). [ESC, p. 590]
    Maziah had a homestead and land in Chatham on each side of the road leading out of Ragged Neck to the highway. [ESC, p. 583]
