First Generation

RICHARD LORD (d. 1610)

Parents:

Richard Lord, yeoman, was buried on 16 Oct 1610. [Ref] He married Joan Unknown. She was buried on 22 Sep 1610. [Ref]

In his will, written on 30 May 1610 and probated on 7 Feb 1611, Richard mentions his wife Joan and children Thomas, Elizabeth, Ellen and Alice. [Ref provides a transcription] He left his wife has of his goods, the use of the chamber over the kitchen and an annuity of £5 from his lands in Towcester.

Children of Richard Lord:

  1. Thomas Lord was born about 1585. He married Dorothy Bird.
  2. Elizabeth Lord was left £20 in her father's will.
  3. Ellen Lord was left £30 and £10 more if she married Robert Marriot of Calcot in her fathers will.
  4. Alice Lord probably married Richard Morris on 20 May 1611 in Towcester. [Ref] Her father left her £30 at her marriage. [Ref]

Second Generation

THOMAS LORD (b. abt 1585) of Towcester

Parents: Richard Lord and Joan Unknown [Ref]

Thomas Lord was born about 1585. Thomas probably died before 14 May 1663, when the General Court ordered Dorothy to mend the fence granted to her and her husband. [Ref] He married Dorothy Bird on 20 Feb 1610/1. [Ref]

On 10 Feb 1610/1 Thomas was issued a marriage license in Peterborough, allowing him to marry Dorothy, the daughter of Robert Bird of Towcester. [Ref]

His father left Thomas half of his goods and his lands in Towcester and told him to pay his debts and pay his mother a £5 annuity. [Ref]

Thomas Lord , a 50-year-old smith, Dorothy, his 46-year-old wife and their children Thomas (16), Ann (14), William (12), John (10), Robert (9), Amy (6) and Dorothy (4) are on a 29 Apr 1635 list of passengers to be transported to New England on the Elizabeth and Ann. [Ref] The ages are significantly younger than is consistent with their baptisms.

Children of Thomas Lord and Dorothy Bird, all baptised in Towcester, Northampton:

  1. Richard Lord was baptised on 5 Jan 1611/2. [Ref] He came to New England about three years before his parents. [Ref] He married Sarah Unknown.
  2. Ann Lord was baptised as "Anna" on 18 Sep 1614. She married Thomas Stanton.
  3. Thomas Lord was baptised on 15 Nov 1616. [Ref] He died before 8 Feb 1669, when his mother wrote her will; she says that she died at 18 but this does not seem plausible.
  4. William Lord was baptised on 27 Dec 1618. [Ref] William, Sr. died 17 May 1678 in Saybrook.

  5. John Lord was baptised on 21 Jan 1623/4. [Ref]
  6. Robert Lord was baptised on 16 May 1620. [Ref]
  7. Amy Lord was baptised on 30 Nov 1626. She married Capt. John Gilbert. [Ref, p. 26]

  8. Dorothy Lord baptised on 1 Jul 1629. [Ref] Presumably she died before 8 Feb 1669, when her mother wrote her will. She must have married Ingersoll.

A Robert Lord is on a 19 Dec 1648 list of residents of Ipswich who paid a tax to pay Maj. Daniel Denison (brother of Capt. George Denison) to be their leader. [Ref]

Third Generation

ANN LORD

Parents: Thomas Lord and Dorothy Bird

Ann Lord was baptised as "Anna" on 18 Sep 1614 in Towceste. [Ref] She married Thomas Stanton. [Ref]

Mrs. Anna Stanton was admitted to the first church in Stonington on 14 Mar 1675. [Ref]
