Some Descendants of Barnabus Lothrop (John) and Susanna Clark of Barnstable

  1. Bathshuba Lothrop married first Samuel Smith on 26 May 1690. [LEFR, pp. 66-7] She married second Samuel Freeman. [LEFR, pp. 66-7]
    Inventory was taken on Samuel's estate in 1693 with his widow Bathshuba attesting. [BMPR, 1;85-7] Letters of administration were granted to Bathshuba on 1 Apr 1693. [BMPR, 1;85-7]
    In the settlement of her father-in-law's estate, the mother of Samuel and Joseph is caslled Bathshua Freeman alisas Smith. The gaurdians of Samuel and Joseph are Mary Smith, the widow of John, Mary Hamilton and Samuel Freeman. [BMPR, 2;49] Bathshua was awarded 50 pounds that would have gone to her sons on 5 Jul 1697. The judge of probate making the decision was Barnabas Lothrop. [BMPR, 2;50]
    Bathshuba's name is spelled different ways in the records. Perhaps it should be Bathsheba.
