First Generation

RICHARD SPARROW (d. 1661) of Eastham

Parents:

Richard Sparrow of Eastham died on 8 Jan 1660/[1] in Eastham. [Ref, 6;203]

On 24 Jun 1639 Mary Moorecock consented to become an apprentice of Richard Sparrow and Pandora his wife. [Ref]

Richard Sparrow is in the Plymouth section of the 1643 list of those between 16 and 60 able to bear arms in Plymouth Colony. [Ref]

Richard was an inhabitant of Eastham on 22 May 1655. (As was a Jonathan Sparrow) [Ref]

In his will of 18 (9) 1660, Richard asked to be buried in Eastham and he names his wife Pandora, his son Jonathan and his grandchildren John, Priscilla and Rebecca Sparrow. Inventory on his estate amounted to £85. [Ref]

Children of Richard and Pandora Sparrow:

1. Captain Jonathan Sparrow was born about 1633 and died on 21 Mar 1706, age 73. He married first Rebecca Bangs. He married second the widow Hannah (Prence) Mayo. He married third the widow Sarah (Lewis Cobb).

Second Generation

CAPT. JONATHAN SPARROW (abt 1633-1706) of Eastham

Jonathan Sparrow was born about 1633. He died on 21 Mar 1706, age 70. [Ref] He married first Rebecca Bangs on 26 Oct 1654 [Ref says probably the 26th] in Eastham. [Ref] He married second Hannah (Prence) Mayo. [Ref] He married third Sarah (Lewis) Cobb [Ref] on 23 Nov 1698. [Ref, p. 29]

Jonathan was an original inhabitant of Eastham on 22 May 1655. [Ref]

He was the most prominent citizen of Eastham. [Ref]

Children of Jonathan Sparrow and Rebecca Bangs:

1. Rebecca Sparrow was born on 30 Oct 1655 in Eastham. She died on 7 Feb 1740 in Harwich. She married Thomas Freeman.
2. John Sparrow was born about 1657. His gravestone says that he died on 23 Feb 1734/5, age 78 years, 3 months and 20 days. [Ref] He married Apphia Tracy on 5 Dec 1683 in Eastham. [Ref, 6;203] Apphia died on 15 Dec 1734 in Eastham. [Ref, 6;203]
   John was an inhabitant of Eastham before 1675. [Ref]

1. Jonathan Sparrow was born about 1664. His gravestone says that he died on 9 Mar 1739/40, aged 75. [Ref]

2. Elizabeth Sparrow married Capt. Samuel Freeman on 5 Feb 1684 in Eastham. [Ref]

3. Patience Sparrow married Joseph Paine.
4. Richard Sparrow was born about 1675. He died on 13 Apr 1728. He married Mercy Cobb.
5. Lydia Sparrow married William Freeman, the brother of her sister Rebecca's husband Thomas Freeman. [Ref]

Jonathan, Jonathan, John and Richard Sparrow were inhabitants of Eastham in 1695. [Ref]

Third Generation

REBECCA SPARROW (1655-1740)

Parents: Capt. Jonathan Sparrow and Rebecca Bangs

Rebecca Sparrow was born on 30 Oct 1655 in Eastham. She died on 7 Feb 1740 in Harwich. She married Thomas Freeman on 31 Dec 1673 in Eastham. [Ref]

Patience Sparrow married Joseph Paine.

RICHARD SPARROW (abt 1675 - 1728) of Eastham

Parents: Jonathan Sparrow and Hannah Prence

Richard Sparrow was born about 1675. His gravestone says that he died on 13 Apr 1728 in Eastham [Ref], age 53. He married Mercy Cobb on 4 Feb 1701/2 in Eastham. [Ref, 7;19]

1. Richard Sparrow was born on 10 Nov 1702 in Eastham. [Ref, 7;19] Richard Sparrow, Jr. married Hannah Shaw on 26 Sep 1723 (int. 26 Sep 1723) in Eastham. [Ref]
2. Rebecca Sparrow was born on 12 Oct 1704 in Eastham. [Ref, 7;19] She married Richard Mayo on 26 Dec 1728 (int. 16 Nov 1728) in Eastham. [Ref]
3. Mercy Sparrow was born on 6 Dec 1706 in Eastham. [Ref, 7;19]
4. Sarah Sparrow was born on 20 Jul 1708 in Eastham. [Ref, 7;19] Sarah Sparrow married Edmund Freeman on 25 Sep 1729 in Eastham. [Ref] Edmund was the son of Edmund Freeman and the grandson of John Freeman and Mercy Prence.
5. Hannah Sparrow was born on 12 Oct 1711 in Eastham. She died on 20 Sep 1784 in Chatham. She married Josiah Cook.
6. Elizabeth Sparrow was born on 18 Apr 1717 in Eastham. [Ref, 7;19]
7. Mary Sparrow was born on 10 Mar 1718/9 in Eastham. [Ref, 7;19] She married Isaac Smith on 9 Mar 1737/8 in Eastham. [Ref]
8. Priscilla Sparrow was born on 8 Jul 1722 in Eastham. [Ref, 7;19] She married David Snow on 5 Mar 1747 (int. 10 Jan 1746/7) in Easthan. [Ref] David was the son of Micajah Snow, the grandson of Stephen Snow and the great-grandson of Nicholas Snow and Constance Hopkins.
9. Jonathan Sparrow was born on 17 Dec 1724 in Eastham. [Ref]

HANNAH SPARROW (1711-1784)

Parents: Richard Sparrow and Mercy Cobb [Ref]

Hannah Sparrow was born on 12 Oct 1711 in Eastham. [Ref, 7;19] She died on 21 Sep 1784 in Chatham. [Ref] She married Josiah Cook on 11 Feb 1730 in Eastham. [Ref][Ref]
