LOCATION: Amesbury lies on the northern bank of the Merrimack River in the northernmost tip of Massachusetts. It is bordered by Salisbury to the north and east, Newburyport to the southeast, West Newbury to the southwest, Merrimac to the west, Newton, New Hampshire to the Northwest and South Hampton, New Hampshire to the north.

HISTORY:

• Settled as part of Salisbury in 1655
• Incorporated as Amesbury in 1668
