1826 and his gravestone says that he was born in 1826, but Isaac himself gave
ages that were consistent with his being born in 1831-2. He died on 12 May
1913 [Ref] in Valdosta, Brooks, Georgia. [Ref]
He is buried in the Sunset cemetery in Valdosta. [Ref]
He married Sarah Patterson Lyon on 16 Dec 1856 [Ref]
in the Abbeville. [Ref][Ref][Ref]
Sarah was born in Apr 1837 in South Carolina. [Ref]
She is also buried in the Sunset cemetery.
His grave has a marker indicating that he was a confederate soldier.

J. L. Sibert enlisted as a private in Company A of the First South Carolina
Cavalry on 23 May 1863 from Abbeville for "three years or the War".
In Sep and Oct 1863 he was absent, having been sent to South Carolina for
a horse. At the end of the year it was noted that he had been absent without
leave but had since returned with a satisfactory excuse. On 26 Feb 1864 he
was detailed at Brigade 2 and on 25 Apr 1864 he was sent "on horse detail".
He returned by Jun 1864. [Ref]
In 1870 Isaac and Sarah were living in Indian Hill in Abbeville and Isaac
was a farmer with real estate worth $600 (difficult to read). [Ref]
In 1880 Isaac Sibert was a farmer in Cokesbury in Abbeville. He said that
he was born about 1832 in South Carolina. His wife Sallie was born about 1837
in South Carolina. They were living with Ida, born about 1858, John, born
about 1861, George, born about 1866 and Arthur, born about 1873. [Ref]
In 1900 Isaac was a farmer in Quitman, Brooks, Georgia. [Ref]
On 31 Aug 1907 Isaac applied for a Confederate soldier's Indigent Pension.
He said that he was born in 1831 in Abbeville and that he lived in Quitman
and had been a resident of Georgia for about 12 years. He had enlisted in
Company A of the First South Carolina Regiment in 1863 and served for two
years. He said that he was with his company when it surrendered. He applied
on the grounds of age and poverty. He said that he had been unable to work
for ten years, that he owned no property and was supported by his son. His
application was rejected on 4 Oct 1907 on the grounds that he had served from
South Carolina and was not a bona fide resident of Georgia. [Ref]
