George Barbour was born about 1615, probably near Fressingham, Suffolk, England. [Ref] He married first Elizabeth Clark [Ref] on 24 Oct 1642. [Ref] Elizabeth died on 22 Dec 1683 in Medfield. [Ref] He married second Joan Fisher. [Ref]

Elizabeth, the wife of George, was admitted to the Dedham church on 27 (8) 1643. [Ref] George was admitted after 5 (9) 1643, when his daughter Mary was baptised and before 17 (11) 1646 when his son Samuel was baptised. [Ref]

George emigrated in 1638, probably with others from Fressingham in the company of Rev. John Phillip of Wrentham, Suffolk, England, and settled in Dedham. [Ref]

Anne Vttinge, single woman of Dedham, left bedding to George Berbor of Dedham, single man of Dedham, in her undated will. [Ref]

George Barbour was a freeman on 26 May 1647. [Ref]

In 1650, George was one of the founders of Medfield. [Ref]

He was deputy to the General Court for eight years and town clerk for 22 years. [Ref] He was Captain of the the military company from 1667 to his death. [Ref]

Nicholas Wood of Natick wrote his will on 16 Jan 1669/70. He appointed his friend George Barbour as supervisor. The will was witnessed by Henry Leland and Hopestill Leland. [Ref]

  2. Mary Barbour was born on 31 (11) 1644 in Dedham. [Ref][Ref] She died in 1700. [Ref] She married Jonathan Morse on 8 Jul 1668. [Ref] Jonathan, the son of Daniel and Lydia (Fisher) Morse, was born on 8 Mar 1643 in Dedham and died on 30 Aug 1727 in Dedham. [Ref]
  3. Samuel Barbour was born on 6 (11) 1646 in Dedham. [Ref] He was baptised on 17 (11) 1646 in Dedham. [Ref does not give his first name] He died on 28 (8) 1683 in Dedham. [Ref] He married Sarah Miles on 7 (6) 1676 in Dedham. [Ref] [Tingley [Ref] calls him Dea. Samuel and says that he died on 29 Dec 1736 in Medfield and married Mary Harding on 22 Dec 1670. Mary, the daughter of Abraham and Elizabeth Harding of Medfield, was born in May 1653 in Medfield and died in 1731.]
  4. John Barbour was born on 13 (1) 1649 [Ref gives only the year] in Dedham. [Ref] He died on 28 Feb 1688 [Ref gives only a year, 1689] in Medfield. [Ref] He married Abigail Badcock on 17 Dec 1674. [Ref, d. Robert and Joanna]

  5. Elizabeth Barbour was born on 11 (2) 1651 in Dedham. [Ref] She died on 22 Sep 1714 in Sherborn. [Ref] She married Daniel Morse on 21 Jun 1699 in Medfield. [Ref] Daniel, the son of Daniel and Lydia (Fisher) Morse, was born on 3 Jan 1640 in Dedham and died on 29 Sep 1702 in Sherborn. [Ref]
  6. Hannah Barbour was born on 16 (2) 1654 in Medfield. She married Ebenezer Badcock.
  7. Zachariah Badcock was born on 29 Sep 1656 in Medfield. [Ref] He died on 11 Aug 1705 in Medfield. [Ref] He married Abiel Ellis on 30 Aug 1683. [Ref] Abiel was the daughter of Thomas Ellis and Mary Wight. [Ref]
  8. Abigail Badcock was born on 20 Oct 1659 in Medfield. [Ref] She married Samuel Thorne on 17 Dec 1691. [Ref]
